Open settings
Click your avatar in the sidebar and choose Settings. The modal opens to Profile by default. Account-related tabs (Profile, Notifications, Calendar, Preferences, Public Pages) sit under the Account group; workspace-related tabs (General, People) sit under Workspace.
Update your profile
Open Settings → Profile.
- Hover your avatar and click Change photo to upload (max 5MB, image files only).
- Edit your Display Name, Bio (up to 160 characters), Title, Location, and Phone.
- Click Save changes.
Change email
In the same Profile tab, scroll to Account.
- Enter a new email under Email and click Update.
- A verification link is sent to the new address. The change takes effect once you confirm it.
Change password
Still in Account:
- Enter a new password (minimum 6 characters) under Password.
- Re-enter it in Confirm password - the Update password button stays disabled until both match.
- Click Update password.
If you've forgotten your password, sign out and use Forgot password on the login screen - you'll get an email with a reset link.
Workspaces
A workspace is a shared environment with other people - a class, a study group, a team. You can be in multiple workspaces and switch between them from the workspace picker at the top of the sidebar.
To leave a workspace you don't own:
- Open Settings → General.
- Scroll to Danger zone and click Leave workspace → Leave.
Anything you created in that workspace stays there. To take it with you, copy it into your personal section first.
Admins see Delete workspace in the same place instead - type the workspace name to confirm.
Delete your account
- Open Settings → Profile and scroll to the bottom.
- Click Delete account. Paper checks whether you're the only admin of any workspace.
- If you are, choose per workspace whether to transfer admin to another member or delete the workspace.
- Type delete my account into the confirmation box and click Delete my account.
Your account is deactivated immediately. You have 30 days to contact support to reactivate before everything is permanently removed. Public-published pages become unavailable as soon as the account is deactivated.
